Today's aftermarket navigation systems by the big names in the business, including Magellan are truly fantastic. They are affordable enough to buy every few years, unlike a factory navigation system that will probably seem somewhat outdated after ten years or less.
Magellan is truly one of the best, and this particular model conquers a problem that has long faced those with large vehicles such as an RV or large truck. A smallish 4 inch GPS for example is hard to see in the enormous windshield or dash of one of these vehicles. While such a size unit might be perfect in your sports car, it's simply too small in a large vehicle, and I have had family tell me this repeatedly.
Enter the Magellan RoadMate for RVers. The large display is oh so nice and my RV owning family says it's just the ticket they've been looking to find. I personally believe it would work terrific in a large truck too. The product oozes quality and research. This RV model goes beyond a... Read more

When our new Magellan G.P.S. arrived, I charged it for four hours. Then we took it out for an hour's spin in the country to put it through its paces. We were both impressed and disappointed. Here's our experience with the Magellan RoadMate Pro 9165T:
PROS:
1. Quick connection to the satellite, so the device knew exactly where we were traveling (as long as it was working).
2. Large, super-easy-to-read screen. With a quick glance it's easy to see Speed Limits, location, ETA, and more.
3. Over Speed Limit Warning - if you exceed the speed limit, the device will issue an audible warning.
4. Feature-packed device - Find a camping site or RV park near to your present location; see points of interest by type of interest (for example, food, medical care); find a gas station quickly. The presentation is quite impressive.
5. Nice large virtual keyboard makes entering addresses easy and accurate.

Failure upon departure, May 3, 2012 This review is from: Magellan RoadMate RV9165T-LM - 7-Inch GPS Navigator for RVers (Electronics) The unit has a large screen and it is visually attractive. The printed manual is barely four pages covering nearly nothing. The mount is something that appears to be designed by NASA.
Problem: After charging it overnight I programmed our 275 miles RV trip and headed South on I-75. Thirty minutes later the screen went dark. Tried the on-off switch to not avail. Unplugged the unit from the cigarette lighter and plugged back in. It came back on but quickly it went off. After doing this several times I gave up.
Today I contacted Magellan and spoke with a customer service representative that I could barely understand a word she said. It took nearly an hour in the phone, and they are shipping a new unit.
